KIDZANIA KUALA LUMPUR PRESENTS KIDZ & TECH 2.0: THE FUTURE REBOOTED!

Activities using Virtual Reality, telecommunications and digital imagery give children a taste of the future

Technology makes the modern world go round and it will play an even bigger role in the future – a future that the current generation must be well-equipped to face. To inspire greater interest in technology and its varied applications, KidZania Kuala Lumpur announces KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted with partners VR Lab Bhd, U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

From 16 May – 24 June 2017, daily interactive workshops and hands-on activities bring technology to life, in line with KidZania’s mission to help children “Learn Life Today”. These activities, powered by the programme partners, engage children and showcase technology in different ways:

> Virtual Reality with VR Lab Bhd: Using specially-designed goggles, children get to completely immerse themselves in a computer-generated, 3-dimensional 360-degree environment; with the help of an advanced control system, they get to touch and interact with items in this environment as though they are real.

> 360-degree Photo-Taking with U Mobile Sdn Bhd: Get creative with a smartphone – just remain in a single standing position and turn a full 360-degrees circle to take a great photo, which will be shared on the KidZania Kuala Lumpur Facebook page! Choose from Street View, Surround Shot or use the Photo Sphere mode.

> Augmented Reality Colouring: Bridge the gap between static pages and animated characters – children can watch their colouring sheet come alive beyond the page with a smartphone/tablet app.
> Coding: Children will be guided to build their own Star Wars galaxy with code and to design their own game, such as programming BB-8 to collect scrap metal using blocks or Javascript…all in the span of 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, on weekends, children get to enjoy two additional activities – the family-friendly Mystery Skype on weekends where a mystery caller will provide clues for children and parents so they can guess the identity of the caller; and sessions on Kahoot!, the popular learning game, where children will get to test their knowledge on KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur Shahrul NIzar Ahmad during the launch of KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted recently.

“Our children have grown up with all the convenience of technology, but for most of them, their exposure is mostly limited to entertainment. At KidZania Kuala Lumpur, we see technology as an important educational tool so with KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted we want to channel children’s familiarity with technology by introducing positive and interesting ways in which technology can be used for learning,” said Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

“With our KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted partners VR Lab Bhd, U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, we hope to trigger greater interest in tech among our young visitors.”

Shahrul Nizar Ahmad, Mayor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur and Datin Shireen Tan, CEO of VR Lab Bhd: one of the partners of the KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted programme to be held at KidZania Kuala Lumpur from 16 May until 24 June 2017. Children can take part in the many virtual reality and other tech activities during this time.

“Engaging children in a virtual environment sparks creativity and inspiration to create great things, which is why we are excited to partner with KidZania Kuala Lumpur for KidZ & Tech 2.0: The Future Rebooted this year. At VR Lab, we believe in the power of imagination because if you can imagine something, it has the potential to become a reality. Combine this with the latest technology, and our future generations will achieve great things,” said Datin Shireen Tan, Chief Executive Officer of VR Lab Bhd.
